Set the Tone, Set the Stage, Set the Scene

Let’s set the tone for this year from a Creative Energy standpoint.

If we consider the options available everything comes down to how we talk to ourselves and the feelings that result. I’m well versed in the topic of speech and mind. Having as part of my foundational experiences an image of being stupid, ‘not enough’, and ‘a burden’ Mother received a good number of congratulations of course, but what stood out to me, going through papers left to me after her death was that she received several sympathy cards when I was born. Times were hard. Dad was often unemployed, and now … because of me … things just got a lot harder.) My demons wanted to sink their teeth into that.

Let’s set the stage. I am a proponent of the Ideal Day practice learned when I was nineteen. The Ideal Day exercise is in the work of Maxwell Maltz in his book Psycho-Cybernetics. The Ideal Day centers on the creative process of entering into the Theatre of the Mind. If you would like a PDF download of the Ideal Day exercise leave a comment or d.m. and I will email a copy. This exercise is a brick in the foundation of all of my creative and relational connections.

Let’s set the scene. 2024 is a no-nonsense opportunity. Here’s why. In my research of Creative Energy Levels and the gifts that each provides, I have learned that there is a culmination quality that lifts us over, above, beyond, and through any issue or adversity that comes to call. That is the capacity to listen to the way that we talk to ourselves and change what doesn’t work. Recently I had to come to terms with a habit that brought up shame. I enjoyed the habit and I hadn’t thought to discard it yet when I began to talk to myself about it by telling myself the truth, it belonged to a younger, less aware part of me. This habit now felt like a digression, and interestingly the habit very effortlessly fell away on its own. I didn’t have to do anything. It simply dissolved. Beginning with this post I will be sharing a ten-part series of the Creative Energy Levels that help us focus on bringing out the best in our creative efforts. We create because it’s natural. Whether a meal or a monument expressing our true nature brings us back home to our center. I invite you to click through to listen and watch the Creative Energy Levels introduction video.

I appreciate your comment, sharing this post with your significant others, and how you are truly caring for the options we have as we move through this most empowering year.
