Bloom Where You Are Planted

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

May 1, Beltane signals a time of flowers and the opportunity to consider the symbolic seeds that you are planting so as to harvest what you value. This time can be a moment to pause to consider the actual as well as metaphoric seed ideas, visions, inventions, etc. that call to you now.

This point each year reminds us that we are midway, six weeks into spring and it’s a natural time to clear away any weed thoughts. I find it helpful to schedule one hour in the morning to be out in the garden.

I weed and work to aerate and open the soil while listening to the birds.  As a creative exercise, each weed that I remove can symbolize an unwanted or no longer needed behavior, habit, judgment, irritation, frustration, you get the idea.
As I turn the soil I imagine that my best ideas will warm in the sunshine. I notice what is blooming now and what seed dream/vision/ideas are still lying in the darkness waiting to sprout.

Each spring, here at Wren House Studio, a group of Creative Time Travelers comes together for the 7-week ‘Emerge n See’ training. This year we are imagining ourselves as ‘Circadian Cartographers’. We are making circle maps to support our blooming. It’s exciting to discover new and/or renewed ways to engage our endless creative seed ideas.

Our next program, coming just after the summer solstice, is called ‘Explore Your Greening Force’ is a four-week program in the Its About Time series. Each summer we actively tend seed ideas to create an abundance consciousness to support a rich harvest.

As artists/creatives, we are in the exhilarating position of inventing ourselves with each step forward.

Human beings must be active participants in the unfolding of their own potentialities.
Phil Lane

Our post-Covid reemergence offers an unprecedented opportunity for creating a new concept of self. I hope that you are tending your creative garden. Pull those weeds! Consider the nurturing that comes from uprooting and composting weed thoughts. Remove invasive species. Toss onto the compost heap what you no longer need or want. Then cover the unwanted weeds with hot horse or chicken manure to ensure that the weeds get ‘cooked’ and no longer able to sprout and invade your thinking/feeling garden.

Estivation:

Some years ago I discovered, in an antique dictionary, a page with beautiful etched illustrations. The illustrations caught my eye and led me to create the Estivation series.

Estivation, in botany, refers to the arrangement of the petals within a flower bud before it opens; prefloration.

I call these paintings Prefloration Mandalas: click this link and scroll down the page to see the series.

In the six weeks ahead the creative energy places a laser light onto research. Research your dream vision to discover ways to root deeply into your evolving vision. An evolving vision is an idea, inspiration, invention, project, etc. that gives you the clear YES. You can feel it. Follow that.

I invite you to write to yourself or leave a comment here.  This is an opportune creative moment to set your intention. Plant a new post-Covid seed into the ground of your BEing.

Take this beautiful moment of pause in the12 weeks of spring and wiggle your roots into the Earth Mother, The Divine Feminine, The Energy of The Goddess within you.
