Welcome to our first week on the February art\/life trail ride. This week we take a moment to be grateful for the space that we created during January\u2019s Clearing.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Now, for February, we turn our attention toward breathing in Renewal.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Renewing and renewal are enlivening creative words, don\u2019tcha think?<\/span><\/h4>\n

I personally resonate here as I am born in February so it is my \u2018gift keyword\u2019 and renewal has always been easy for me to access. \u00a0In February I am all about renewing my world view, my connection to others and my relationship to the art\/life. We can all be dedicated and even devoted to this vital exercise during this month.<\/span><\/h4>\n

In February we\u2019ll consider what may renew creative vitality and life force.<\/span><\/h4>\n

To renew is to become active. Yet we are still in The Mystery<\/em><\/strong> and therefore we are not yet \u2018hot to trot\u2019 rather we continue to remain inward and intuitively turned toward recreating and visualizing the dream of what will manifest when we are once again in the saddle. Keep in mind that 15 minutes per day can bring this experience into alignment.\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

The action we take now is more of a ruminating, mulling, imagining, aspiration sort. Here are some Renewal prompts from Dictionary.com<\/a><\/span><\/em>\u2026can you apply them in a quiet and inward manner as you sniff the air and lean toward the coming spring?<\/span><\/h4>\n

Renew:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>verb\u00a0(used\u00a0with\u00a0object)<\/span><\/h4>\n

to\u00a0begin\u00a0or\u00a0take\u00a0up\u00a0again,\u00a0as\u00a0an\u00a0acquaintance,\u00a0a\u00a0conversation,\u00a0etc.; resume<\/span><\/h4>\n

to\u00a0make\u00a0effective\u00a0for\u00a0an\u00a0additional\u00a0period<\/span><\/h4>\n

to\u00a0restore\u00a0or\u00a0replenish<\/span><\/h4>\n

to\u00a0make,\u00a0say,\u00a0or\u00a0do\u00a0again<\/span><\/h4>\n

to\u00a0revive;\u00a0reestablish<\/span><\/h4>\n

to\u00a0recover\u00a0(youth,\u00a0strength,\u00a0etc.)<\/span><\/h4>\n

to\u00a0restore\u00a0to\u00a0a\u00a0former\u00a0state;\u00a0make\u00a0new\u00a0or\u00a0as\u00a0if\u00a0new\u00a0again<\/span><\/h4>\n

to\u00a0be\u00a0restored\u00a0to\u00a0a\u00a0former\u00a0state;\u00a0become\u00a0new\u00a0or\u00a0as\u00a0if\u00a0new\u00a0again<\/span><\/h4>\n

recreate,\u00a0rejuvenate,\u00a0regenerate,\u00a0reinstate,\u00a0mend.\u00a0Renew, renovate, repair, restore\u00a0<\/u>suggest\u00a0making\u00a0something\u00a0the\u00a0way\u00a0it\u00a0formerly was.\u00a0<\/span>
\n To\u00a0renew means\u00a0to\u00a0bring\u00a0back\u00a0to\u00a0an\u00a0original\u00a0condition\u00a0of\u00a0freshness\u00a0and vigor:\u00a0to<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>renew<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>one’s<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>enthusiasm.<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>

The seeds are beginning to stir<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

I like to think it brings me some sanity. It helps me think in some logical way about what I am doing and look at it as deeply as possible.<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

Buddhist practice makes my life full and rich, sometimes filled with joy and sometimes with a deep experience of the suffering present in this world.<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

After all those words does it seem odd to say that it is the simplicity of Zen that appeals to me?<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

This inclination to simplicity pulls me to try and integrate my practice and work, to paint Buddhas, to observe my process as I work.<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

I am drawn to mixed media, integrating script and words with images and colour.<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n
